July in Porto trades the bonfire smoke of São João for something a little more sun-drenched: beach festivals, open-air rock nights, and riverside terraces that stay busy until well past midnight. The city slows down just enough to enjoy the heat, while the festival calendar quietly ramps up toward one of the biggest weekends of the summer!
Here are the 9 best events in Porto in July 2026. We hope you enjoy it!
1. Prémio Internacional Suggia
When: July 3
Where: Casa da Música, Av. da Boavista 604-610 Piso 0
How much: 22-26 EUR
One of the most prestigious cello competitions in Europe holds its final round at Casa da Música in Porto, with three young finalists performing demanding concertos alongside the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto.
The competition draws some of the continent’s most promising young cellists, representing top conservatories from across Europe.
2. MEO Marés
When: July 17-19
Where: Praia do Aterro, Av. Liberdade, Leça da Palmeira, Matosinhos
How much: From 50 EUR (day ticket)
The festival formerly known as MEO Marés Vivas enters a new era this year. After nearly two decades in Vila Nova de Gaia, it has rebranded simply as MEO Marés and relocated to Praia do Aterro in Matosinhos, right on the Atlantic coast just outside Porto. The format stays the same, though: five themed stages, a Ferris wheel, and room for around 40,000 people a day.
Da Weasel headlines the opening night, and more names are expected to be announced in the lead-up. Public transport from central Porto runs directly to the venue, so there’s no need for a car.

3. Candlelight Concerts
When: Various dates throughout July
Where: Pestana Palácio do Freixo (Estrada Nacional 108), Hilton Porto Gaia (R. de Serpa Pinto 124)
How much: From 21 EUR
Porto’s Candlelight series continues into July with intimate, candlelit performances inside some of the city’s most striking buildings, including the riverside Pestana Palácio do Freixo. - July 12: The Best of Pink Floyd; The Best of Adele
- July 26: The Best of Abba; The Best of Hans Zimmer
- July 30: The best of Pink Floyd; Timeless composers such as Mozart, Bach, and others
Seats are limited and tend to sell out because these concerts are undoubtedly a favorite among locals, so book ahead if a particular date catches your eye.
4. AgitÁgueda
When: July 4-26 (day trip from Porto)
Where: Águeda (about 1 hour from Porto)
How much: Free (some ticketed shows)
Just an hour south of Porto by car or train, the small town of Águeda transforms every July into an open-air arts festival famous for its umbrella-lined streets, the same colourful canopies that have gone viral online for years! Beyond the photogenic umbrellas, AgitÁgueda runs weeks of street music, theatre, workshops, and performances throughout the town!
5. Juanes World Tour
When: July 26
Where: Super Bock Arena, Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, R. de D Manuel II Porta 03
How much: 30-60 EUR
Colombian rock icon Juanes brings his World Tour to Porto on July 26 with his new album JuanesTeban. The concert is built on his catalogue of hits like “A Dios le Pido,” “La Camisa Negra,” “Fotografía,” alongside fresh material from the new record. Naturally, they’ll all be delivered with the guitar-driven energy that’s made him one of the most influential figures in Latin rock for over two decades!
It’s a rare stop for a Latin artist of his stature in Porto, so tickets are expected to sell out fast!
6. Caixa Ribeira
When: July 18
Where: Various venues across the Ribeira district
How much: 25 EUR
A one-night fado takeover of Porto’s most photogenic neighbourhood! Caixa Ribeira spreads performances across multiple stages and historic fado houses in the Ribeira, with doors opening at 5:30 pm and the night running until half past midnight!
It’s one of the best chances all year to hear incredible fado music without travelling to Lisbon. Plus, imagine the setting! Listening to fado music while delighting in breathtaking views of the Douro at dusk!

7. Arquiteturas Film Festival (AFF)
When: July 1-5
Where: Batalha Centro de Cinema (Praça da Batalha 47) and other locations in Porto
How much: Varies by screening
Now in its 13th edition, this architecture-and-cinema festival presents 33 films from 22 countries, which you can watch in multiple venues (which are worth visiting themselves), including Batalha Centro de Cinema, Casa Comum, and Casa da Guitarra.
This year’s theme, “Urban Era,” focuses on housing, public space, infrastructure, and cultural identity through documentary and narrative film, paired with talks, walking tours, and a photography workshop.
In other words, AFF could be a thoughtful, low-key counterpoint to the bigger summer festivals, and a good way to see parts of the city you might otherwise walk past.
8. Oásis: O Nosso Amor, O Nosso Verão
When: July 9-17
Where: Praça da Batalha
How much: Free
Batalha Centro de Cinema’s open-air summer film programme returns to the square outside its doors for cinema art enjoyed under the stars. This year’s theme is love that burns as bright and fast as summer itself, with a lineup running from Cabaret and Romeo + Juliet to Monsoon Wedding and American Graffiti.
If you’re in Porto with your family, you can also check the agenda for Mini Oásis: Amizades de Verão, happening between July 1 and 15, designed for families with kids.
9. Território IX

Now in its ninth edition, Território brings together emerging dancers and major choreographers. The 2026 edition features the work of Wayne McGregor, a British choreographer known for blending contemporary dance with science and technology, as well as the work of Liliana Barros, a Portuguese choreographer and the author of iconic dance performances.
