Tour “Elegantly Portugal”
A private car tour with your own vehicle and driver/guide to discover the best of Portugal where you can picture yourself tasting some of the best wines from the Alentejo on a selected wine property, visiting renowned World Heritage Sites or understanding how the famous Port Wine is made on century old wine lodges among other experiences. The accommodations in this program were also carefully selected, allowing you to choose which hotels will enhance your journey. Using both Lisbon and Porto as a base with excursions from each city affords a leisurely pace without the need to change hotels each night.
This private car tour of 9 days and 8 nights can be customized to add more nights and/or specialized sightseeing tailored to your interests including visiting Portugal's islands of Madeira and the Azores.

Day 1 - Arrival to Lisbon & Transfer to the Hotel

Begin your day with a private tour of Lisbon, one of the oldest settlements in Europe.
Phoenicians, Romans, Visigoths and Moors appreciated it’s location on the estuary of the river Tejo. Among the sights you will see: São Jorge Castle, high on one of the city’s hills and the ancient Alfama district built by the Moors in their typical winding, narrow street pattern. The Portuguese Age of Discoveries in the 15th & 16th Centuries led to the building of the magnificent Monastery of Jerónimos, a splendid example of Portuguese Gothic style known as Manueline.

Day 3 - Free day in Lisbon

Day 4 - The Alentejo Region and the city of
Évora
Full day tour to Évora and a Wine Estate by private car with driver/guide
Travel eastward from Lisbon through the plains of the Alentejo, a vast agricultural area of cork oak, olive groves, vineyards and orchards of almond and oranges. Rising from the plain is the enchanting walled city of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city. Within its walls are a 1st Century Roman temple, a Moorish neighborhood of winding, narrow streets, a medieval cathedral and the famous “Bones Chapel”. Your guided walking tour of the city will explain its wonders. Time for lunch (not included) in one of the many cafés offering the local cuisine.
In the afternoon, travel to a typical Alentejo winery (quinta). Enjoy a private visit followed by a wine tasting. Alentejo wines aren’t as well known as the wines of the Douro and Dão but they are excellent. Return to Lisbon in the late afternoon.

Day 5 - Lisbon to Porto by first class train
First class train tickets will be provided from Gare Oriente train station in Lisbon to Campanhã train station in Porto. Travel time is about 3 hours. Transfers to/from the train stations are not included. *Taxis are the suggested means of transfer. Upon arrival in Porto, the balance of the day is at leisure.Overnight in Porto with buffet breakfast

Day 6 - Full-Day tour of Porto by private car
Full-Day Private Tour to Porto with driver (all-day) and guide (during the morning)A driver and private car will be available to you from 9:00am to 6:00pm. During the morning you will also have a licensed guide who can accompany you into the city’s most important monuments. Start the day with a panoramic tour towards the trendy and cultural areas called Boavista and Foz. This is where the Douro River and Atlantic meet. It’s also the area for some of the best museums. On to the historical city center, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The wealth of Portugal’s colonies poured into Porto and it’s evident in the extraordinary amount of gold in the Church of São Francisco and the magnificent Arabian room of the Stock Exchange Palace. Fame and fortune also came with the popularity of Port wine. Enjoy a guided visit to one of the Port wine cellars.
Stop for lunch (not included) before continuing your tour to the Clérigos Church and the shopping district of Santa Catarina Street. Let your driver know what else you would like to do and see. More wine tasting perhaps? More sightseeing?

Day 7 - Full day tour to Guimarães and Braga by private car/driver
Meet your driver at your hotel at 9:00am for a tour to the “Minho” region of Portugal. The town of Guimarães is considered the “cradle” of Portugal. Stop at the Castle (now in ruins) located alongside the magnificent Ducal Palace. Walk through the narrow city streets to reach the small squares and little corners that make Guimaraes one of the most interesting cities of Portugal. Free time for lunch (not included). Continue to Braga, home to the famous Sanctuary of Bom Jesus with its magnificent, cascading Baroque staircase.Overnight in Porto with buffet breakfast
Day 8 - Porto to Lisbon by first class train
Return to Lisbon today from Campanhã train station to Oriente train station. Transfers from your hotel to the train station aren’t included.Overnight at Hotel Olissipo Oriente (4 stars) with buffet breakfast

Program ends at check out. Private transfer to Lisbon airport.Note: It’s also possible to end your tour in Porto on Day 8. Please advise us if you would like this option.
